Hey there, hopefully you’ve been enjoying this list that’s already taken a month and a half to unfold! You’ve likely noticed that I haven’t changed any of my commentary despite making a post a while back which reveals a change in my target audience, that’s because upon constructing this list and thus rereading everything I’ve ever written on this site, I realised that my writing holds up remarkably well given how I no longer aim to please the online music community which as anyone would know, is extremely far left to the point where they might actually rival the likes of Hassan Piker or Destiny in terms of how much they hate anyone not part of their cult (despite this, I left their community on my own accord and they likely to this day haven’t noticed by absence.) Upon discovering sane people again (that is, going outside as well as interacting with non-far left extremists online) I’ve realised that stuff like referring to Sam Smith as non-binary instead of intersex (the correct term for those who have gender dysphoria to both sexes) and having several entries in my weirdest videos of the 00’s list be little more than displays of scantily clad women was a mistake and went against what the ultimate goal of this site is, namely to help people discover/rediscover music that was popular at one point in time in Australia and NZ.
With that said, I’m forever grateful that the people who’ve come across this site in the two years since I first launched it wasn’t offended at these divisive tactics I’ve since amended here (or at the very least, not enough to consider me a lolcow.) I especially thank those who’ve been following my site over the years and liking my posts, again I feel that with these few exceptions, I’ve done a good job in appealing to as many people as possible with my commentary which is why none of it has a political slant to it (unless of course it’s relevant to the entry.) I guess I should bring up why I decided to abandon not just the music community but indeed the left altogether, the truth is, this change happened in early 2024 when two things happened. The first was the sweet baby inc fiasco where it was discovered that a group of clinically deranged individuals from Canada decided to harass not just the gaming community but what felt like the entire internet simply because someone made the connection that they were involved with several divisive games which seemed more interested in pushing identity politics (which the company knows very little about) over quality games. The second thing was just how stagnant the music industry had gotten by that stage, now obviously it’s gotten worse since then, however the fact that we had songs in the top twenty at the time that simply refused to leave our charts was getting ridiculous at that point, made worse by the fact that the community would continuously talk about these songs in their videos which would inevitably boost their popularity given how every chart around the world counts their videos as engagement and thus “sales” for the charts. On a more bias level, the fact that 2024 is widely considered one of the best years of all time in music in this community when everyone who isn’t a part of it can agree it was mid at best and a complete nothing burger at worst should give you and idea of how hive minded everyone is, this being my best explanation for why I honestly thought it was a good idea to have several entries on my weirdest videos of the 00’s list be videos with scantily clad women and nothing more. Again, I’m forever grateful that list never received any backlash as I was able to come to this realisation on my own and not as a result of making people angry.
So, what does this mean for the site moving forward? Well, I’ll let you know once I come up with new ideas, although my countdown is still ongoing and won’t end for another month, so hopefully I’ll come up with something fresh once that happens. One thing I must request of my readers is to NOT HARRASS ANYONE IN THE MUSIC COMMUNITY!!!!!!!!!! While I’ll admit that I was utterly miserable during my time supporting their content, I want to be clear that the mistakes I’ve made not just on this site but on my previous site that I’ve long since buried (to the point where I couldn’t bring it back even if I wanted to) were my own doing and that at worst, this community simply influenced me to make these divisive decisions and had no direct involvement with them. I’m not even going to name the creators I was engaging with prior to my departure from the community (some of whom I even gave money to on Patreon) however if you want an idea of what their content is like, look up “worst songs of XXXX year” and you’ll get a good idea of what I’m talking about (for an extra challenge, see how similar each of these lists are to these creators, to the point where they even say the same thing as each other whenever they talk about these repeat entries.) Again, I apologise for anyone who felt I was being divisive with my choices on my weird video list and am grateful that nobody was offended enough to make it a justification for making me a lolcow.
With that said, take care, and I hope you enjoy how the top 1000 unfolds throughout the month of September!
