Two year anniversary for this site

Hey there, can you believe it’s been two years since I launched this site? Last year I celebrated it by clarifying where my stances were in this polarising world, so I think I’ll keep tradition by doing so here as naturally my stances on certain issues have changed over the last twelve months.
I’ll start with the elephant in the room, that being me revamping the intro to my sites as it was done to distance myself from the LGBT community. Now to be clear, I still respect the identities of lesbians, gays, bisexual and trans individuals (provided of course they’re not identifying as such purely for clout) however that’s the full extent of my support as like everyone else, I’ve grown fed up with all these other groups who’ve thumb screwed themselves into this community over the years. That said, I must ask my readers to not go out of your way to harass them as that’s ultimately what they want, not that you’ll have an opportunity on this site as I do moderate the comments section on every post. Another thing that’s changed since my last anniversary post is that I now have an x account, I actually had a bluesky account for the longest time, however I left the platform as it was everything I despised about Twitter back in the day. Out of sheer curiosity, I created a new x account to see how it is and while obviously it has its issues (mainly from rage baiters looking to ruin your day) I have to say that I’m glad I’ve returned as I feel better connected to the world than ever to the point where I’ve changed my stance on social media altogether. I’ll keep the posts of me criticising it intact as you’ll know I’m referring to what social media was at the time of an entry’s commentary, but just know I likely no longer stand by what I say about certain things. The only thing I’ve changed with my commentary is that I’ve replaced the term non binary with intersex in my posts, even then it only applies to Sam Smith as that’s the only “non binary” person to feature on this site and I feel it best to refer to them as gender neutral to uphold my beliefs that it’s not worth going out of one’s way to refer to them as a man.
So, you’re probably wondering where I stand in this culture war if I’m no longer capitulating to the demands of over privileged gender studies graduates (for the most part, again it’s not worth spending time “misgendering” Sam Smith.) Rest assure that I think the entire concept of “woke” and “anti-woke” is just pathetic at this point and really needs to die a painful death moving forward. The anti-woke crowd has gotten out of control over the last few months to the point where I’ve actually seen more push back from them than the woke crowd since my return to Twitter. Admittedly I don’t take it personally as it’s more of a victory lap than anything, but it doesn’t make them any less insufferable especially compared to the purple haired Karen’s they rally against. Speaking if, I’ve come to the realisation that it’s not so much the political messaging I despise from the far left so much as it being used as a crux to push their objectively terrible media onto everyone else. Admittedly this was always their goal as they also went our if their way to criticise everything from classic movie to the concept of being healthy just to get people to engage with their objectively garbage media. The thing is, I don’t care that the new dr who is a prissy black gay man or that snow white is now snow brown. My issue with this “woke” media is that these progressive stances are completely hollow and are only there to excuse the amateur hour writing, acting and/or music meant specifically to cater to theatre kids and no one else. I feel referring to “woketards” as theatre kids is much more apt because in addition to jumping on social causes just for popularity, their world view begins and ends with everyone coddling their feelings which explains why the quality of their entertainment is close to non-existent as well as why their “activism” comes off as hollow and misinformed. I really wish I had more to say about the “anti-woke” crowd, however, there really isn’t as the biggest issue with them is that they’re irritating and closed minded just like their “woke” counterparts. I guess this is a long-winded way if me saying that this culture war bullshit is nothing but a textbook example if the horseshoe theory as both sides are beyond pathetic and needs to re-evaluate their lives.
Something that’s become disheartening for me is just how stagnant the music industry has become, to the point where I have no idea how I’m going to tackle new music moving forward as we have songs from a year ago still sitting comfortably in the top twenty regardless of where in the world you’re from. Worse still is that they’re complete nothing burgers from the likes of Benson Boone, Chapelle roan and Billie Eilish, meaning that streaming payola has only gotten worse since I last talked about it. I actually don’t know if there’s even going to be music charts by the end of the decade as it seems like ARIA, RIANZ, Billboard and the official UK charts are only tracking what’s popular purely out of obligation at this point. I don’t know what can be done to rectify this as outside if listeners refusing to broaden their music tastes, there doesn’t seem to be any campaign dedicated to shoving an artist down our throats. We haven’t had an industry plant since Gayle and her meme track “abcdefu” from late 2021, nor have we had Disney take over the airwaves since their Encanto soundtrack again from late 2021 (thank f**k for that too because the less I have to think about Lin Manuel Miranda or Rachel Zegler the better.) You can’t even blame the culture war as there’s no sign of kneecap or “macho man” on the charts, we haven’t had an anti-woke song since “rich men north of Richmond” from two years ago at this point nor has a “woke” song charted since Megan trainer’s brief comeback again from two years ago. As agonising as songs like “woman’s world” from Katy perry or “facts” from Ben Shapiro are, they at least give me something to talk about as well as a challenge to do so in a respectful manner. What could I possibly say about Benson Boone or shaboozey? How much mileage can I get out if bringing up Chappelle roan sounding like the killers if they embraced drag culture before that gets old? Is Sabrina carpenter even a worthy replacement for Taylor swift seeing as though the world is sick to death of the latter? Who knows, but I’m not looking forward to finding out the answer moving forward.
So yeah, this post us a bit more pessimistic than I would like it to be. If there’s one thing I want my readers to take from it, it’s that I’m not a shill and will write what I believe in as well as provide as many facts to back it up as possible. I have my favourite music sure; however, I’ll feature any song on this site regardless of how immoral it may be (looking at you Kanye west.) Just know that regardless of what the next big hit is, be it from Tom MacDonald, Rachel Zegler, Dylan Mulvaney or whatever other internet punching bag there is, so long as it’s a hit, I’ll be talking about it at some point on this site regardless of how I feel about these individuals. With that said, take care and I’ll see you around.
